The battle that ensued was fierce, resulting in great slaughter on both sides, and ultimately, the Nephites defeated Giddianhi's army, causing them to retreat.
Year 112 (Year 21 After Christ) Siege by Zemnarihah Land of Nephi 3 Nephi 4:16-21 In the twenty-first year, Zemnarihah led the robbers in laying siege around the people of Nephi to cut them off from their lands. The Nephites had sufficient provisions, which helped them withstand the siege, while the robbers struggled with limited resources and dwindling supplies. The Nephites took advantage of this predicament, launching attacks on the robbers continuously, resulting in many robber casualties.
Year 112 (Year 21 After Christ) Defeat of Zemnarihah's Army Parts northward 3 Nephi 4:23-28 Zemnarihah, seeing the high casualties his troops were suffering, commanded his people to withdraw from the siege and retreat to parts further north. Gidgiddoni, aware of this, sent his armies in the night to cut off their retreat, surrounding them at dawn. Thousands of robbers yielded themselves as prisoners, and the remainder were slain. Zemnarihah was captured and hanged upon a tree until dead.
